The Picture
You can use almost any picture for your Jigsaw. As long as you own, or have permission to use it.
It can be almost any size, but pictures less than 500 x
500 pixels are really too small. Pictures above 1000 x
800 pixels may not be seen on the screen all at once,
but the user can scroll around. They won’t like
scrolling too much, so check the size of your picture
first, if you have to scroll around too much then the
user will too.
The picture can be of your children or other family
members, pets, home, garden or just about anything you
want. To date we have made jigsaws from pictures
of cars, boats, aeroplanes and even from wedding
photographs. The choice of picture is up to you,
if you have a picture you would like making into a
Computer Jigsaw then we can do it.
You can keep the picture for your own personal use, or
give it to friends and relatives etc.
Computer Jigsaws make great presents, instead of
emailing pictures of your children to your parents, why
not email them a jigsaw made from a picture of your
children.
Whatever picture you decide to use, please remember that
a poor quality picture will produce a poor quality
jigsaw. So if you are going to take your own pictures,
set the camera to the highest resolution, make sure
there is plenty of light and hold the camera steady.
How Many Pieces
The number of pieces can be anything from 50 upwards,
but note that the more pieces you have the smaller they
will be.
Also, the larger your picture the more pieces it can
have, but a large picture may not be seen on the screen
all at once.
We recommend a maximum of 1000 pieces, but for this the
picture must be at least 1024 x 768 pixels.
700 – 800 is about the limit for a 800 x 600 pixel
picture.
