Notes

Jigsaws can be created from square or rectangular pictures, either portrait or landscape.
In either case the original picture should not be more than 1000 x 1000 pixels.  Any larger than this and the jigsaw may be too big to fit the screen.

Jigsaw making (for computers) is not an exact science. You cannot always get the exact number of pieces and size you want.  Therefore the examples above are for illustration purposes only.

A lot depends on the size, shape and quality of the picture you begin with.  It may be necessary to resize the picture to improve the quality of the finished Jigsaw, or to make it fit with the number of pieces required.

As an example, it is not possible to create a square Jigsaw with 500 pieces.  In a square Jigsaw the number of rows equals the number of columns.  You multiple the number of rows by the number of columns to get the total number of pieces. The only options are;

22 rows x 22 columns = 22 x 22 = 484 pieces or

23 rows x 23 columns = 23 x 23 = 529 pieces

Similarly, you can't have a square 100 piece picture.  I'll leave it to you to work out, but if you have a calculator handy start with the numbers 31 & 32.

You could have a 500 piece Jigsaw if it were rectangular, e.g. 22 rows x 25 columns = 22 x 25 = 500 pieces.

As a result of the above, all Jigsaws created will be "best fit".  That is they will be the closest it is possible to get to the specifications required, but not necessarily exactly as ordered.

The quality of the picture on the finished Jigsaw is directly related to the quality of the picture you start with.  If you start with a poor quality picture the finished Jigsaw will have a poor quality picture.
